As part of my NextLeap design fellowship, I developed an end-to-end concept for a mobile app helping new parents monitor their baby’s health stats and routines.
Role:
UI/UX Designer (Course Project)
Industry:
HealthCare
Duration:
4 weeks
Challenges
Fragmented Health Records: Parents often struggled to track vaccination schedules and medical history across different platforms.
Overwhelming UI: Existing healthcare apps had cluttered dashboards that confused new parents.
Low Engagement: Lack of personalization and reminders led to missed health checkups and inconsistent record updates.
My Approach
Conducted user interviews with new parents to understand their challenges in managing baby health data.
Defined user personas and journey maps to visualize their emotional and functional needs.
Designed a mobile-first interface with clear sections for vaccinations, growth tracking, and doctor notes.
Created interactive prototypes in Figma, focusing on soft colors, calming visuals, and intuitive navigation.
Collected usability feedback through multiple test sessions and refined the design for clarity and accessibility.
Results
Delivered a streamlined baby health management experience that helps parents easily store and access medical information.
Introduced a smart vaccination tracker with reminders and milestone notifications.
The final prototype was praised during the NextLeap fellowship for its simplicity, empathy, and real-world usability.
Future Plans
Add AI-driven insights to suggest upcoming checkups or nutritional tips based on baby growth data.
Enable multi-user access for pediatricians and family members for collaborative health tracking.
Incorporate data sync with wearable devices for real-time monitoring and analytics.
Conclusion
This project deepened my understanding of designing for emotional reassurance and trust, especially in sensitive domains like child healthcare. It reinforced my belief that good design should feel empathetic, calm, and genuinely helpful for users managing daily responsibilities.
